I would be livid if this happened.

Kakko has been disappointing as a 2 Overall but he's still a decent middle six winger who is serviceable on the top line. Should the Rangers sign him to a 9x8? No but if you can keep him for cheap you might as well do it. Even if he doesn't develop much further he's still a decent hockey player right now if you ignore his draft position. And the org is severely lacking RWs so you might as well not make that problem worse.

Also, when you consider all of this, there's really no point in trading Kakko at his lowest value and getting scraps in return.

They aren’t going to buyout Trouba either. Sign a guy like Duchene to play with Kreider and Zibanejad.

I completely agree. Kakko is actually my favorite player. Love what he brings defensively. I just sense he’s on the way out. I don’t see a spot for him.

I disagree with the Trouba take, I think he 100% will be bought out or traded with retained salary and a pick or two. However, I would like the Duchene signing. I’d rather give him a go than Marchessault tbh. I just see them signing the latter.

Why are Rangers fans so set on Kakko being anything anymore? A season high of 40 points is fine, but acting like he still has a chance to have this huge breakout like you’re all saying is unrealistic.

While agree this would suck for New York. Kakko’s value is extremely low.

That being said, I still don’t think the Ducks should do this. Ducks don’t need defensive heavy wingers right now, they need offense heavy.

Kakko would make more sense for a team like Chicago or San Jose who just needs every player at every position.

Maybe to San Jose for a 3rd for Kakko?
