Description
Grab Lindholm as your #1C

Neccas can get a similar bridge deal that Pasta got and if he can drive his own line he is line for a bigger pay day at 28 with Marchand off the books and the cap going up

Give Debrusk the 8th year to keep his cap hit a bit lower since he will get 5-5.5 on the open market. He can succeed Marchand in a year or two, move up and down the line up, and help play with speed and possession with Potrias/Frederic

Canes pass. Carolina drafted Geekie, and he was exposed in the draft because he was surplus to requirement. That hasn't changed. Lysell and the 1st are interesting, but they don't help Carolina extend the window. Boston probably don't have the assets for Necas

I can’t imagine Necas taking 4 years @ 7m. Do you make this deal if Necas doesn’t agree to a deal beforehand? Comfortable taking him to Arb?

I think if you trade for Necas, you are automatically handing him a check for about 10-20% more than he’s worth because you’ve committed now.

I disagree. Thats what Matthews and has done and the shift with others moving toward shorter term before maximizing their value by age 28 or 29. Friedman reported he is leaning towards term similar something like debrincat who was in the same boat and did 4 years @ 7.8 to be able to get paid now but really cash in as he enters his prime. Unless Neccas isnt confident in himself and pressing for term, I dont see why a bridge move for just north of 12% of the cap doesn't work best for him? He plays it out and has leverage of being a UFA in his prime for a 7 or 8 year deal with an inflated cap.

As to your second question, they felt comfortable taking Swayman to arb so I dont see why they wouldn't with Neccas. His numbers dont support an arbitor awarding something higher than 7.25 or 7.5 plus it would only be for a year or 2, its not a blind risk as if he were a UFA.

Thats exactly what a bridge is. They followed the same route with Lucic, Marchand, Pastrnak, and a handful of others over the years quite successfully. Matthews and Debrincat just did the same exact thing, they took 4 year deals to take them to their UFA years in their prime where they can really cash in if they believe they are worth it. In this case He can bank 28.5m before signing in his prime for 7 or 8 years when the cap has really gone up and his game is stronger - unless he doesnt feel he is going to get better. For example if the cap were to jump to 100m, which given the escrow status, the big market teams still in it, and expansion that is pretty realistic. 12% of the cap would be 12mx8 years or $96m total versus signing now at 12% for 7x10.5 or $73.5m and entering UFA at 31 years old.

Obviously I would love it to be with the Bruins, but wherever he is traded to - I would be shocked if he did not do a 3-5 year bridge deal like most players in his age bracket are doing. The only guys signing 7 or 8 year tickets right now are off of ELC's or guys hitting their primes (27,28,29,30).
