Any Marner trade proposal involving Vince Dunn going the other way is a non-starter. He's their best defenseman and a key part of their roster for both the present and future. Dunn's importance to the team was demonstrated last season when their performance cratered following his injury. The Kraken need scoring, but there are many ways they can boost that without sacrificing one of their team cornerstones.

As for the whole Marner-to-Seattle idea, I think the Kraken will at least do their due diligence and kick the tires on a deal, but the only way I see a trade being made is if it's for another forward with draft capital to balance out the talent discrepancy.

What do you think of Wright + Larsson?

I've seen that floated around a bunch, and personally I'm not a fan of the idea. I wouldn't want the Kraken to trade Larsson (and really would like to see him extended) just because of the outsized role he plays on the Kraken blue line and the fruitful partnership he's had with Dunn. However, he's not necessarily an instant deal-breaker because he's also on an expiring contract. Wright, on the other hand, I don't see Seattle entertaining trading whatsoever. His development has taken a bit longer than expected, but he's still on track to be a well above-average well-rounded top six center. The Kraken have constructed their roster in such a way to seamlessly slide Wright into the lineup, and I expect him to make an impact on the big club as soon as next season. I strongly doubt Seattle will even consider trading a player they've invested so much in for someone who is a rental until proven otherwise when they're likely more than one move away from Stanley Cup contention.

Long story short, I don't think Marner for Larsson/Wright is hugely lopsided either way, but that sort of trade doesn't really make a whole lot of sense for the Kraken right now given their current franchise trajectory and roster construction.
