So you want the Canucks to trade 2 1sts, two promising young forwards - one of whom had 24 goals in limited ice time this year - and player who has become a staple part of a third line that generally played at a top six level, for a guy who makes $11m, has an expiring contract, seems to be a bit of a diva/ego, and can't make it out of the 1st round?
This would mess up Vancouver's depth, their cap, and likely some of their culture. There are easier ways to give Pettersson a running mate.
I also think Maple Leafs fans may be overestimating the return you will get for Marner in terms of future or efficient assets. His contract status and trade protection will likely take away a decent amount of leverage the Leafs will have in any trade.
