I got that trade from a buddy of mine who is a Sharks fan. Not like Zadina is an A+ prospect. He's a project with potential.
The Sharks sbuyout + dead cap for this last season was $8.8M,
Next season it's $7.2M, $4.4M for the next 2 seasons, before finally becoming $1.387 in 2027-28 in 2027 in three seasons.
That becomes, $8.3M this coming season, $6.7M for 2 seasons, $3.987M for another 2 year after that. Or they eat his $5M cap all three seasons, and push off competition for another year.
All that for a late 1st rounder they won't see until 2026, 2nd rounder from this season, and a 3rd next. Realistically no other team is in the perfect spot in a rebuild than the Sharks. The Oilers have 12 contracts that need to be reupped or replaced this season and bonus payouts next seasons. The Sharks shouldn't even entertain an offer until 2 - 1sts and a prospect are involved, no other team would even entertain taking this.
