Description
Before everyone gets in the comments and says "ughh aktualy no one is trading for marner 🤓☝" he's instantly 25 teams best players and at the very least gets you into the playoffs which is valuable enough for most teams. Anyways, here's the reason for each trade:

SEATTLE: Marner is Seattle's best player, Seattle has the cap room to extend him, and they pay a modest price of an 8th overall pick and my personal favourite grinder. In addition, they get Calle Jarnkrok, who is a more than serviceable bottom 6 winger who can PK and chip in on offense on occasion. I think Seattle firmly wins this transaction and takes advantage of Toronto in a buy low scenario.

SAN JOSE: Timothy Liljegren is a mid or bottom pair puck moving RHD with some cost control. He has shown flashes of high end skill but susceptible to costly mistakes. Many teams have this brand of dman and the going rate is often a late 2nd or mid third round pick. Change the team/pick, just think San Jose can get more out him as a PP guy than many other teams.

CHICAGO: Reaves is at most a net neutral asset that brings energy to the locker room and Gregor is a high paced 4th line player. Reaves can be waived for a 100K cap hit but is still largely serviceable as a 4th liner and Gregor is a cost controlled player Chicago can choose to keep or release. In return Toronto gets a 26 year old KHL player.

NASHVILLE: David Kampf is a bottom 6 high end defensive player and top tier PKer making a little more than most people's liking. He actually shows up in the playoffs and plays well so he is no longer a fit for the Maple Leafs. Connor Timmins is a rangy bottom pair d-man who can move the puck well but injuries have really stunted him. In return the Leafs get the once highly touted Glass who has been streaky (at best) and injury prone (at worst). He has one year left at a largish cap hit and Toronto takes the chance he can rebound for them.

FREE AGENTS: Solid defensive d-men who can at least break the puck out and compliment existing players. Topi Niemela has proved he can be an offensive contributor at different levels and gets a chance to play in the NHL.

I think most Preds fans would be open to moving Glass, but Kämpf and Timmins don't do anything for NSH. Preds pass.

Yeah, because every GM in the league makes such big decisions based on "Player good. I want have him. Ok, I buy."

Glass is likely a negative asset for the Preds at this stage. Instead, they spend 100k less on a PK specialist that really plays to Nashville's style. Timmins you can take or leave, he's a fairly run of the mill 7th dman with an entirely buriable cap hit.

I don't entirely know what this is reference to but yes, quite literally every GM in the league wants to acquire good players? Thanks for the feedback, Garak
