Oilers shouldn't spend to the cap. They need the cap space for 2025 when they have to re-sign Drisatil, Bouchard, Halloway, Boulgaurt & McCleod. Hence they need to keep that $3mill cushion. If they do spend to the cap, should just for players on 1yr rental terms.
Actuall a guy like Ebrle would be perfect to round out the 2nd line. Not sure if Ebrle be the exact guy, but a second line winger on a short term up $4mill is apt.
And I was just having some fun with former oiler first round picks, hence the gagner and coglianio signings. Those two will most likely retire. So you can fill out the 4th line with affordable up and coming young guns on favaoruable deals. Just having fun though.
Stuck with Campbell. Hopefully for the Oilers he comes back and rebounds. But with the Oilers needing cap in 2025 a buyout is not an option for them. Either he rebounds or he gets buried in the AHL and they find a solid 1B for Stuart.
I wouldn't give up on Broberg just yet. He is still young and under team RFA control. Even if he develops only into a 5/6 dman, all good. You need to draft and develop depth guys.
