A different direction

I don't follow the kings, but a 2nd for Kalivyev kinda feels like an overpay. Granted it will be a late 2nd, but I feel like the rangers could get someone better for a 2nd alone

I traded for him for 2 reasons:
1) he has good underlying analytics and somewhat cheap
2) backup plan in case contract talks with Kakko don’t work out


They have no other RWs in the pipeline

I see. Still feel a 2nd rn at least might be an overpay. Think if he gets moves it will be for another prospect who needs a change of scenery. I feel like Kakko gets moved soon tho. Than again I don't follow the rangers at all

Well think of it like this, Kakko has been underwhelming for the rangers and teams probably wouldn’t pay more than a 2nd or whatever for him. But the rangers aren’t gonna sell low

Maybe Kaliyev is worth a 3rd, but the 2nd is to pry him away since he’s still young and RFA

Ahh I see the logic. Yea that 2nd is closer to a 3rd than since I expect the rangers to go on a playoff run

Going to be interesting what happens for Kakko tho
