Détails additionnels:
Doesn't have to be ottawa but the package of a 3rd in 2025 and some other asset seems fair for a great middle six defense first winger. Would like to keep him but just no room on the roster and is more of a luxury than a necessity.

Is Perfetti not good when he plays center? Why has he played mostly at wing, is he just not strong enough, not defensively responsible, something else?
Just curious to know why since I maybe watch 3-4 Jets games a year

Edut: despite being a big fan of the guy, I would be super hesitant to give Monahan more than 1yr, his history is not great.

Perfetti faceoffs are piss poor (below 40%). He just really doesn't have the impact that he does at wing atm. Nothing wrong with that as center can be tough for younger more offensively minded players. They will give him more shots at center but playing it safe with Monahan.

I was contemplating signing him anywhere from 1-3 years. Jets need the help down the middle for the shot term before a lambert, Lucius start making nhl noise. Yes he's had injuries but at this point of his career he isn't more likely to get an injury than anyone else playing in the nhl currently. Also jets need the faceoffs, bumper on pp, pk ability and 5v5 he brings and the fa class is poor this year on top of jets rarely attracting players there.

Cool, thanks for clearing that up with Perfetti

Yeah, Monahan is great and versatile but, he injured both hips. Unless I'm wrong those types of injuries are the type to repeat but, maybe his last surgery on it was one I haven't heard of that is expected to stay healthy, it has worked all year so far.
I don't hate the signing I think it just poses a high risk but, yeah Winnipeg isn't a big FA market so taking some risks is neccessary

Exactly and getting a player that wants to play in Canada as well is a massive selling point on resigning him. He's just all around a good nhl player not elite by any stretch but someone you don't really notice is doing that good and then you watch him specifically and he does a lot. I'm not aware his hip is of any concern now but the issue lies with if he injures the hip again. It's not more likely to get injured based on the past but if he injures his hip (same odds as anyone else in nhl having same injury) then idk what would happen. That's the unknown with the nhl though every game can be your last so make every shift count.

Fair, I'm no medical professional so that makes sense
