1. Primeau doesn't get that
2. MTL shouldn't trade for Gourde
3. Fair deal, but both teams might decline imo (Maybe MTL accepts)

1. Primeau for a 2nd is a useless trade for MTL hes still young and has played decently well needs more starts.
2. Gourde doesnt fit the habs timeline
3. We will have to move a dman, but Hutson is most certainly not the one habs dont consider that to add a center that they already have in Dach.

Each one of these trades either dont help the habs or hurts them going forward.

I respect your opinion but i don’t see thing like you do.
I am a huge Johnston fan and think he will be a stud. Giving up Hutson would be tough but we would immediately address the top 6 need with Johnston.
I am also extremely high on Adam Engstrom so i think Mtl could make this deal and still have a deep defense down the stretch in 2-3 season. The only reason i trade Primeau is that i don’t think we will be able to trade Allen so Hugues will face tough decision at some point.
Habs built a hard working, forechecking brand of hockey and adding a cup winner speedster who is a relentless worker would be a better option then to keep Dvorak who can’t skate no more.

I like your idea on the DAL trade. People get emotional about Hutson, but the truth is the Habs have an embarrassent of riches problem, and will have to move at least 2 young LD within the next 18 months.

The next step is continued patience.
The only pressure point right now is unladening our surplus of LHD, which preferably involves adding a potential scoring forward.

Newhook and Anderson will have their opportunity to assert themselves on the 2nd line next season with a healthy Dach.
This will likely be Anderson's last opportunity to prove he can be an effective producer in this team's system.
Newhook will have a longer leash, but will need to start showing whether he is a top 6 contributor or more likely to end up as a 3rd liner.
Those opportunities won't be there if we add an NHL ready top 6 option immediately.

If the right deal comes along for an NHL ready top 6 winger, you can add them to the competition for a 2nd line spot, but there's no rush for a Zegras or Johnston if it's going to cost us a higher end asset like a top 10 1st or Hutson.
As much as I like Struble and the possibility of Engstrom becoming a staple, our offense needs a threat from the back end and we have to determine if that is Hutson before we even consider moving him.
Same for Barron. We need to stick with him until we can confidently define where he fits, even if it means he doesn't make it and loses all value.

When we move Monahan, Matheson, Savard, Harris, etc., we will have expendable assets towards targeting a forward without dipping into our high end prospects/picks.
I'd take Johnston, but there are a few players that are a hard no to moving and Hutson is one of them.
