Even though I think the proposal is reasonable, I don't see Minny being the best option.
It's true they're in cap hell next year as it stands. But they have guys they can trade, even if it means taking pennies on the dollar for them.
Getting Zegras could set the Wild up to hit the ground running the following year when the cap comes off the books. He's already an NHL ready asset, and a good one. He has familiarity, if not chemistry, with Boldy. He's still young enough to be a part of the core. He insulates the forward corp in the event Kaprizov leaves. He's still an RFA when his current deal is up.
If the Wild could shed the cap, and it may not need to be that much if the cap goes up by 4M, Zegras would make a lot of sense for the Wild, as opposed to the draft pick, who is likely not a true top of the lineup player, and not for another 3-4 years.
However, I dont think Zegras is the type of player Guerin wants on his team, unfortunately.
