Description
Few things.

1. Acciari is a better player when on the wing, I think getting him on the RW in the 4th line would pay dividends. Can play C in a pinch if needed. 2. Puusty has looked very good so far since getting called up. 4pts in 5 games, playing very good hockey.
3. Puljujarvi obviously still going through PTO and I would assume just seeing where he is. Should he sign I think you stick him next to Sid and Jake. If he can't get going on that line then you waive him.
4. Assuming points 2 and 3 work you can have your depth by putting Rakell and Rust with Eller (once Rust is healthy). This then gives you 3 much better and deeper lines than when you started the season.
5. Small additions. Greer and Carrick would be fantastic 4th line adds, not sure on their price.
6. Players listed in taxi-squad can we waived.

This imo is the penguins best option for the season. You don't give up much from an asset standpoint and still potentially make a team that can compete for a playoff spot.

I thinkl that would be an easy trade to accept for Calgary, a 3rd rounder for a player picked up on waivers + Nieto is decent.

I would think Puljujarvi would need to be playing the best hockey of his career (1PPG or better) not just good, to take Rust's spot when he comes back healthy. I know you said he'd ''need to get going'' but, even if he pays at a 20G 60P pace, which he's never done, you can't play him over Rust who has done better than that and was playing at a 40G 80P pace before his injury

yeah that all makes sense... rust has been on fire so assuming that is still the case it would be hard to play him on the third line... like I'm not sure he could produce from there but you never know...

@pens1991 I do completely agree with your line of thinking in this post tho, Puusty has been a breath of fresh air for an AHL guy who actually has some hands and just enough skill to play in the top-6 and actually put in consistent effort (looking at you Alex Nylander) and yeah with Puljijarvi I'm meh... he's only skated once I believe and I'm all for giving him a shot but if the pens don't even think he's healthy enough to be on the ice for every practice, I find it hard to think that he would be able to perform in game action... if he would take a 2-way deal and play like 15 games in WBS I think that would be the best eye test...
on moving Nieto, he hasn't looked right all year, I'd argue he's just a big an issue with the bottom-6 as Carter, who's looked fine the last little bit, a little jump in his step... so I'm fine with that... Zohorna I'm done with he needs to be sent down... we have better options than him no doubt...

What is the cost of Greer in all honesty? i tend to go higher given everyone on here tends to argue lol I was originally going to do a 4th.

I tend to think a 4th line player that you don't expect to play higher outside of injury replacement cost a 4th round pick.
Some 4th liners are young-ish with potential and cost more and some are just buried on deep teams but at 27 Greer is pretty set in his role.

I'd do a 4th and Nieto then. Nieto just needs to go for cap reasons.
