I wouldn’t exactly call Raanta a cap dump. If anything Allen is more of a cap dump seeing as he’s making nearly 4M for this season and next season

Can’t imagine Carolina wanting to swap Kotkaniemi for Monahan either

I would rather have KK at 4.8M for 7 more years than Monohan at 3.25 for "4" more years (60% of which is spent on IR).

Forgot to add habs 1st for dumping allen. And a top prospect for the canes accepting a significant downgrade from KK to MonaHURT

Raanta is costing the Canes games and a playoff position, sure his cap hit isn't significant but with an .860 sv% on a good Canes squad he is most definitely a cap dump compared to Allen who has a .901 sv% on a bad Habs team. This is basically the equivalent of Allen for a 3rd + cap dump since goalies don't have a ton of value anyway.

KK again has 15 points in 28 games, Monahan has 16 in 29 games. I like KK but when he is producing identical numbers at nearly 3 times as much. That is extra cap that could be better spent elsewhere on the roster. I know KK is still young and is a decent 3C on a contending team but at nearly 5 mil a year getting less than 50 points a season he is overpaid in today's market, especially when the team is having trouble putting up goals and no clear 60-80 point 2C. KK with Teravainen and Necas should be at nearly .75 ppg not saying that Monahan would be putting up those kinds of numbers but the hope is that he would Kickstart those winger the way he did Pearson and Gallagher at the start of the year.

You forgot that our players are on the Habs, that means they're worthless to the other fanbases. You must always factor this in when making proposals.
