Description
The Way I see it, Zegras-Carlsson-Terry becomes a full time thing and Carlsson becomes an everyday player. Vatrano-McTavish-Strome also sticks together for as long as they’re clicking. Henrique moves to 3rd line center with Silfverberg on the right and Killorn on the left, however I can see Killorn moving up to the 2nd line if Vatrano cools down. Jones-Carrick-Leason should be the 4th line, as Carrick has proven himself to be a mainstay on that PK and Leason has been phenomenal for his role. Jones also gives this team more than enough bite to stick on the roster. Drysdale reunites with Fowler, Mintyukov moves up to play with Gudas, and LaCombe moves down to play with Lyubushkin. Dostal also should become the full time starter over Gibson if that hasn’t happened already. Now that leaves 5 roster players to figure out. Isac Lundestrom, Brock McGinn, Ross Johnston, BO Groulx, and Urho Vaakanainen. Only 3 of them can be on the roster. I imagine Vaakanainen is one of those players because he’s the team’s 7th defenseman and the only other defenseman here. There is also Tristan Luneau, but I think he goes back to Juniors once Drysdale comes back, maybe even sooner. As for the 13th and 14th forwards, I think Johnston has been a pleasant surprise and has earned one of those spots. Enough so that I can see him playing over Jones at times. The last spot is where things get difficult. You’d think that it’d be Lundestrom and I’m sure that’s the most likely scenario, but Groulx has played well enough when he’s actually played to fight him, and McGinn I just don’t see a spot for. I think he gets put on waivers, goes unclaimed due to his cap hit, and goes down to San Diego. Groulx will be the most interesting one, because he has to go through waivers to get sent down and he would get claimed for sure. I think there is a possibility that a trade happens mid-season, perhaps involving Lundestrom and maybe McGinn, a pick, and another player. Perhaps the Ducks add something to bolster their lineup if they’re still winning games by this point. If not and they come crashing down, Henrique and possibly Silfverberg go out the door instead. The Ducks have a pretty good problem on their hands once everyone is healthy. It’ll be interesting to see how Pat Verbeek and company handle it.

I agree with pretty much all of this except I would keep the Russians together on Defense and just ice all three pairs fairly equally depending on who is hot. They have a lot of chemistry together and I'm not a fan of splitting that up. I would also love to see Leason get promoted to third line and bump down Silf, but I think its probably fine either way. I think between those 5 scratches, Vaaks stays, Lundy probably bumps Carrick out of the line up giving one spot to Carrick, and the last one has to be BO Groulx cause I dont see a world where he clears. I think Johnston and McGinn would clear, and if they didnt it wouldnt be end of the world (although I have very much enjoyed Johnston on this team). Ducks have a plethora of quality bottom 6 guys, so I think a trade is likely before Lundy comes off IR. Its hard to gauge though because the Ducks are exceeding expectations right now and who know if/when that will end. I still think they are probably sellers at the deadline and the performance of all those guys is making a Rico trade a lot more likely

I don't see us trading away Lundy in an effort to keep Henrique. Same goes for moving out someone to keep Silf. While they may be otherwise outperforming who we would replace them with, we still need to keep our eyes on the future. Silfverberg and Rico are both in their early/mid 30s , we can't keep too many of those guys on the roster. Johnston I also think is expendable if it means costing a piece of the future. We're performing incredibly well right now, but sacrificing youth in the name of a misguided playoff push would kneecap us for years to come for a moment of glory.

Its also a bit of a moot point, as I don't think there's going to be a point this year when we aren't using IR. Cronins system isn't easy on the body.

I also disagree with making Dostal the dedicated starter. His stats are better because he's been pulling the easier assignments. Our D is still very green, really good teams will pick that D apart better than lesser rivals. They're working fine as a tandem, and Gibson isn't costing us games.

I do appreciate the details you went to in the description though, was a good read.
