Description

Just looking at how NYR could look next year with no major changes, assuming the cap does indeed go to 87.5mil as projected. I think given the cap increase, these contracts are fair. Sub Garand for Quick or any other equal value goalie, if Quick goes well, anyway.

Assuming the cap does go to 92mil in 25-26, then NYR would have 13 contracts signed and 21.2mil in space... which is all well and good, but they would need to sign UFA Shesterkin, and RFAs Laffy and Miller, as well as filling out the rest of the roster. Shesterkin gets at least 10million, if not more, and Laffy and Miller could easily get 4-5million each depending how the next two years go.

Long story short, NYR's cap problems aren't going away anytime soon, even with the massive projected cap increases over the next two years.

Lindgren and Kakko both get way more.

Rangers fans not realizing how valuable they are the team is so funny to me. Get rid of Lindgren and that defense looks waaaay worse. Get rid of Kakko and the defensive side of the forwards takes a big hit.

Lindgren gets an 8x6mil deal for team friendly. He easily gets a 7x7 deal as a UFA or if he really wanted to stretch it he could get 7.5. Hes better than guys like Sanheim, Ekholm, Brodin and if that cap goes up, he will get some more.

Kakko will get 5-6 mil easily. A 3x5 mil deal or even a 6x6.5 deal makes sense and seems possible.

Lindgren is $5.5 mil *8 - $6.75 mil * 8.

Kakko should get locked up $6 - 6.5 mil * 8.

Bridge Schneider $2.7 mil - $3.2 mil *2-3 years.

They need to trade 2 of Trocheck, Panarin, Trouba and Goodrow. Cause the next year we need to sign Laf, Miller and Shesty.

You’re probably right about Kakko….obviously top 6 opportunity and how he shows continued development will have a lot to say where his next contract lands.

Regarding Lindy- I think every NYR fan sees him as the heart and soul of their D. But recent reports have indicated NYR trying to extend him long term for under 5M per. He’s still RFA at end of contract…so he loses a little leverage there….but if going long term at the #s you mention is what it takes to avoid arbitration, then they are probably better suited selling high on him. Sure that would be a hit to the team- but hopefully a D prospect or two is ready to push the roster. And as much as we all love Lindy, he probably won’t age well (like Girardi).
