Description
*If Dvorak is out the first couple weeks of the season and Beck impresses at camp I could see MTL giving him the 9 games without burning his 1st year to fill in the 3C slot until Dvorak is ready to go, It keeps Monahan and Dach in their current lines and lets beck show any improvement he's had and again this only happens if he truly impresses KH/MS/JG cause they won't want to hurt his development if they don't think he's ready but He'd be my number 1 choice if dvorak misses the first 2 weeks of the season.*

but with that said unless theres a BIG surprise from Beck/Roy/Heinema/Farrell I cant see anyone not here already that makes the opening night roster for forwards, assuming they go 14F 7D 2G for the 23 Man roster, where it gets interesting is if they choose to keep 8D to start the season. With Lindstrom now added to the group I see him as a Kovacevic type of addition in his risk is low and he could turn into a solid 3rd pair guy plus he's RH.

Defense
Might be a hottake but I think Barron should be in the AHL to start so he can round off a better defensive zone game but I do Believe he'll be back in the NHL around the TDL if Montreal moves some D

Xhekaj likely should start in laval if they want him to become more then just a fighter for the team but I fear his physicality will keep him in the NHL where he wont be able to develop his game as much as he'll be relied on to play physical and fight when needed.

Which sucks cause I think he could really be a decent defender if they let him play in laval where he wouldn't feel pressured to have to fight to keep his spot in the lineup and could develop

Wideman is a weird case to me, if they want him in the NHL then Barron is forsure in Laval but how they handle wideman will really show their cards on Barron IMO.

Only thing I'd change is Barron over Lindstrom, he will likely just be an AHL player for the Habs unless injuries come up.

And my God do I hope you're right on another top 5 pick this year

I think Barron is better then Lindstrom but to get the most out of barrons development he should be in laval to plat 22-24 minutes a night against the best players in the AHL on a daily basis instead of being 3rd pair in the NHL possibly rotating starts with the 7th D

I could see TBL (not a fan so just a guess) being interested in DeSmith with full retention. If they send Myers back, they will be cap compliant. MTL can bury him and get a pick.

I agree with you, and hopefully we get a top 3 pick because I want a forward this year (Celebrini,Eiserman,Demidov)

Barron is always paired with Matheson, so he isn’t playing sheltered minutes. Harris-Kovacevic are such a solid pairing
