I think FLA is the perfect trade partner for Petry with retention... with Ekblad and Montour on LTIR, they literally have SEVEN left handed D on the roster right now. Petry will play above his depth chart until they return from injury, where he will drop to the 3rd pair. Even with Ekblad and Montour in the lineup, they are under the cap with a 23 man roster.

Problem is, they really have nothing to give right now. I think with 2 years retention, he could possibly catch their late 1st round pick (that isn't until 2026 since they don't have the earlier 2), or a 2nd round pick + a prospect, but none of their prospects are jumping off the page at me.

An alternate scenario is they get Knight involved in the trade... perhaps Knight and Allen swap? With the recent Bobaissance, they may be looking to run him long term.

I've also thrown Wideman into the trade as optional, if they would want him to play RD until the injuries subside. Hey, he's good on the power play, at least.

Ultimately, while I think they are great trade partners, I'm whiffing on what FLA could offer... what do you think?
