All a bit soft for PHI.

I think the EDM deal goes through as is, even without errson and/or koneckny retention. (I think Yamamoto carries negative value to PHI, they have a ton of RW, hes small and hasn;t produced on a top offensive team and hes an expiring 3mil RFA). Its also PHI's last retention spot so they wont want to give that up.

Seeler probably gets a 4th from multiple teams in 2023, not 2024, lessening the value.

Laughton gets that entire package probably by himself. The unreliable defense of Timmins doesn;t beat out attard or Grans at 3RD, and robertson doesn;t carry good value right now (see note about Yamamoto above really). Ginning, as a 2nd round pick with promise, who had a very good 1st yr in NAmerica probably gets those 2 not so shiney players by himself almost, which means PHI gets a late 1st for Laughton and a 4th?

Yamamoto is not a top 6 forward, robertson is not a top 9 forward (yet, or maybe never), timmins is going to his 4th team in 4 yrs. because he doesn;t play defense.

And then PHI sits on 9mil in cap space and has no retention spots left?

Im getting nervous the more hours go on that we're going to bring back the same veterans on our team that are gonna hamper us from getting another high draft pick next year, like they did this year. We legit played just as bad as any team below us, yet were missing out on a Carlsson or Fantilli because of it. We need to trim the fat, get rid of the veterans ASAP, only because of the strength of this draft. If this was an average draft, then I'd say eh, but this is the beginning and we need more draft picks to build this team. One more year of admitting were not gonna be in a position to compete, and next off season looks a hell of a lot different. Cutter will prob be up, hoping whoever we pick (outside of Michkov), may threaten for a roster spot. We have guys this year like Foerster, York, Andrae, Attard, Desnoyers, all hoping to play their first full season on the big club. And guys like Frost, Cates, Tippett, and even Farabee hoping to continue to build on their last year.

IMO, Laughton, TK, and Sanheim all need to be gone before or at the draft tonight

I Dont completely disagree, but theres no reason to trade valuable pieces for less valuable pieces.

Right now, 2/3rds of the team is 25 yrs old or less....guys like frost, tippett, cates, farabee, alison, york, hart are all developing well on a team thats had multiple coaches, gms and has had no offensive system and tons of injured top 6 forwards for 2 years. They have guys like andrae, desnoyers, grans, attard, foerster, brink, foerster, errson, (even ginning) having very good years in the AHL and ready to come up, and some blue chips in foerster, our 7th overall on the way.... so I think you;re further into the rebuild than you think.

Guys like TK, Hart are under good team control at 25, and are perfect to develop a team WITH, not around, but with, so theres no reason to trade them UNLESS you get massively overpaid. Laughton as well is coming off his 2nd career year and is a swiss army knife player on a good contract, who'll get a 1st and more now AND in the future (more expensive guys like old man Foligno got a 1st, 3rd and 4th as a UFA and struggling ROReilly got a 1st,2nd and 3rd as a UFA as TDL rentals). So Im not worried about Laughton not retaining value. As for Sanheim, you dont need to clear cap and you're selling him at a low point. Ultimately you want some guys to shoulder the load, help develop the younger guys, especially if you are getting nothing back.

If a team overpays, sure anything is available, but theres really no need for cap space (especially when we will lack retention spots) and you just hope somebody like sanheim plays better, but trading young-ish guys with good game for blind chances in the future seems desperate at best, unless you're getting good or multiple blind chances.

I agree with all that for sure, and I'm not saying to trade them for nothing. But for instance, the "rumor" of Laughton to the blues for 25or 29 and a 2nd, how do you turn that down? Could be two huge pieces for our rebuild for a guy who will be 32 when we're hopefully competing. Just situations like that, I think we need to take advantage of.
