Description
doesn't matter who the veteran backup goalie is, should be a market for a low minimum deal like that, same with 4th line Veteran center. plenty of a market for that.
I think Merkulov would thrive more in this situation surrounded by players like Pasta and Zacha. He's much better suited for a 3rd line role this year, but Coyle/Freddy's style i don't think suits him.

There is no reason to sell low on Hall. We can't afford Bertuzzi so we should move on.
So many on here as saying we need to pay a 2nd to get rid of him and that's just ridiculous

I also see most ACGM's from PIT saying their glaring weakness is goalie and LD, so this solves that, and if i checked correctly, it can be fit in their cap, and Ullmark at 2yrs left gives them the same timeline to run for the cup with Crosby etc. I'm sure Gryz would be open to at minimum a bridge deal until PIT is ready to enter a rebuild. i heard PIT say no moving #13, so if need to change the trade around that, then still i think a good starting point

I think we can get a 5th/6th for Forbort, but if that's not the case fine. Everyone needs reliable D-men who can block hit and excel on the PK. If we can't, and someone wants something stupid like a 3rd to get rid of him, then we'll keep him. The bottom 3 d-men can rotate around wherever, and whoever can sit if Lohrei keeps progessing the way he does.

If we're way out of contention by the deadline, we capitalize on Hall, Forbort, Debrusk, and whatever veteran backup we sign if they're thriving in our system.

All 7 players under scratched/taxi squad i think at least get a chance this year.

Dubas just got done with his presser and said he isn't moving picks/high end prospects. So i would say this is a no.

I doubt PIT accepts that

Bjugstad, OEL, and Quick likely get more $

i just read that right after i hit publish (of course). I still think these 2 could be partners, and this is a starting point

I know, i'm still trying to figure out what the actual value will be for these two, but still both valuable assets and benefits both teams.
Like i said just selected older veterans at small deals, don't care who it is, just what type of player/contract i think we roll with

Pittsburgh is definitely open to take on a contract from Boston, but the 1st is off the table. Even if it's for a goalie coming off of a vezina worthy season.

i know Dubas said no to a 2023 1st, but where do you think the starting point is? I see a lot of people valuing #13 + a prospect for just Ullmark (just on PIT ACGM) i'm genuinely curious what you guys think the cost is for a low #4 - #5 d-man, and a starting goalie (even if doesn't replicate last year, still a hell of a goalie) he even thrived in the black hole that is Buffalo
