Retooling the Capitals

Liam Foudy is a bottom six role player who is a letdown of a first round pick by Columbus. With the youth coming up, Foudy seems expendable.

Svozil is the real get here. He put a ppg in the WHL last year for the Regina Pats. He’s a puckmoving LHD and is one of the better D prospects in the Jackets system.

I got a feeling Kuzi is going to give you a lot lesser of a return than one might like. This reminds me of the Brent Burns situation.

He is a good player, but his cap hit is way too high. Washington needs that cap flexibility to fill out the wings and McMichael is a natural center.

I could see salary retained, but nothing more than 25%

He is currently the 4th best goalie prospect in the Blackhawks system.

Behind Soderblom, Stauber and Commesso. He had a solid last season in the NCAA and offers intriguing upside. Also, he has yet to sign with the Hawks.

Bratt makes Washington competitive again and top six wingers have a price. If Washington doesn’t get a top six winger, they probably don’t make the playoffs again in Ovi’s career.

I like the addition of Taylor Hall. I think Boston is really going to want to bring Bertuzzi back. DeBrusk isn’t getting moved and makes Taylor Hall the cap casualty.

Now if Hall is the off the table, I’d go after Bunting or Barbashev in the FA market.
