Even if for 3 more years, it seems bringing in Demko - an established # 1 starter who's only 27 - would go directly against what Adams always says about not wanting to block the path of his young players. Sure, Levi would be on the NHL roster and learning but he'd be relegated to backup status for the duration of Demko's contract. Just seems like the more realistic and logical approach will be the Sabres finding a seasoned veteran who once was a starter but is closer now to a backup role and able to mentor Levi - exactly what Anderson provided.
I'm all on board though for Garland and Bear being added but it seems neither would be on the Sabres' radar or wish list - Garland has been on the block for over a year and Bear was available when Hurricanes tried to deal him to any team. I also wonder if the Sabres would want an older veteran on defense - especially if either of Okposo or Girgensons don't return like you're proposing.
