New GM Idea

Dubas isn't the GM you want, if you want to rebuild through the draft as you suggest. He has constantly traded Leafs picks and youngster for expiring contracts, and signing UFA vets. Dubas was hired in 2018. I don't believe one Leaf regular has been drafted Dubas.

Any ideas who would be an ideal GM for a rebuild? That is available?

Gee, I really don't. Generally I like GMs who have assistant GMs from a successful organization, and ones that have extensive and successful in either pro scouting or amateur scouting . One area where I think Dubas failed was in contract negotiations. IMO it was a failure of of whole Maple Leaf organization, who should have had a bigger say in negotiations, as I believe Dubas was kinda on his own island on contract negotiations. Also, the new GM has to attract the "right" coach for the Pens. That might be the important job, for a new GM...especially when he may not have a lot of time to make that decision....like within three weeks after the playoffs.
