Description
Detroit has some obvious holes to fill with the recent moves at the deadline. I think these moves help keep the team competitive and still allow for the young guys to develop.

Detroit will need to spend a little bit of money on short term deals this offseason. I believe they will sign a free agent to fill the gap at RD in the short term and I think Severson could fill that spot on either the 2nd or 3rd pair. Not a sexy signing but he is a solid veteran. I can see Yzerman adding more of a veteran presence to the lineup by signing Killorn. He should be able to add 20 goals and can play a tough two way game in the middle 6. I resigned Suter as he has impressed me the last few weeks at 4C. I don't see many better options in the free agent market. Detroit needs a better backup goalie and we should be able to sign Anderson or a similar UFA on a 2 or 3 year deal.

This team will continue to push for a wild card spot without having to mortgage the future to sneak into the playoffs. I don't think we will see Kasper or Wallinder with the wings in 2023/2024. They are more than likely to spend the year in GR.

I didn't bother with trade since Yzerman always shocks us with incredible deals. I do think he makes a move or two but I didn't want to try and predict them as he always goes off the board.

All recommendations welcome!

Killorn can be a good fit, but my feeling is i'm 100% sure that he will sign a cheap contract with the Canadiens because it is his childhood team and somes other reasons.

Killorn old and past his prime and stinks now
Severson is the biggest turnover machine and hardly brings offense anymore
Anderson is always hurt and not stable, learn from the ned trade that Carolina D is different then wings D
Veleno should get the ras deal 3 years 1.5
Lindstrom should be gone after this year
Suter is meh, but if he accepts that then I guess you can keep him.

Ultimately this makes the wings much much worse and kills their cap, pass on all for the most part

I don't mind Severson as a 2nd/3rd pair tweener, but I have the impression that he will cost more than this, and that he may not be worth what he costs. That being said, there aren't a lot of good RD candidates in the UFA pool, which could both make us more willing to pay him and limit our other options.

Probably looking at something between $4.5-5 for him on a 3-4 year deal (I'm assuming). Absolutely still works cap-wise though.

Fair opinions but I think Killorn can add a tonne not only on the ice but in the locker room for a young team. Detroit needs more vets like Perron that can show the young guys how to be a pro and demonstrate what it takes to win. It is a short term deal and Detroit has a ton of cap space to use. He has 49 pts in 64 games this year. It is fair to assume he can be a 40 pt guy on Detroit and contribute on both ends of the ice. Hard to see how you think he stinks with that kind of production at 33.

Also I added that Detroit should sign Anderson or another similar UFA, doesn't have to be him. Just someone who can start 30 games and give us some consistency when Husso needs a break.

Wings still have 14 million in cap space, I don't get how this kills the cap space?
