Part 2 of Five Year Plan. We will see quite a few young guys break camp I think, and I have Gauthier making the team. I will also cover the TDL in 24. As for the draft, not gonna get into speculating who they draft but I doubt they will be on the team this year. I am also expecting Couturier and Atkinson to play in 2023-24, at the very least more than 22/23 (likely zero for both). Doesn't mean they will be the same players or play the whole season, but it is what it is.
For Cates, he reminds me a lot of Eriksson Ek's projection. While he doesn't have as much time in the NHL to back it up, I think they'd be smart to sign him to a longer deal to something below 5 million. York, I really like him but I think a bridge is more likely and same goes for Frost. They'll both get shorter term deals to prove it. Frosts' reminds me a bit of Myers' deal in situation. I hope it proves to work out better.
Moving on to trades, I do think they will look into trades for two names that have been ciruclating: Hayes and Provorov. Now Provorov has the horrible PR stench, but I think we've seen that GMs will try to get away with anything they can and he's a talented enough player that they won't care about his stupid protest. I think the Flyers will get less than before that, but still a decent enough return. Hayes I think there is interest in, depending on the amount they want to retain. I'm looking to move Provorov to a team that has an opening window and Hayes to a team that is already in one. These two will happen in the offseason.
I know Canes fans may not want to give up Suzuki, but I think Hayes at 4 mil is a solid addition. They have a lot of money in 23/24 as well where that addition doesn't break the bank. He could take the spot of Fast for example.
Fagemo is a good player, but looking at what Chychrun got, this feels more appropriate. Chyc got a 1st and 2nd (though ARI did not want any $ or players to be fair). Provorov isn't as good as him, so a 1st and older prospect seems more fitting.
In doing this trade, I would assume LAK find a taker for Petersen (10 team NTC that I bet Philly isn't on) and maybe 1 other contract/player. This should leave them with enough cap to take this and resign Vilardi.
This is just meant to be to "A Playoff Team". As this series goes on, there will be a decent amount of placeholders as I can't predict who will be in the playoffs each year.
