Description
I know Sharks would be looking for "futures" so DeBrincat and Joseph would someway/somehow be traded to another team (before or after). This is more to show which players would need to go in that EK back to Ottawa scenario while giving a realistic return

3rd line needs some work (and creativity) and ideally, they hire a cheap/reliable backup to allow Sogaard to continue his development in the AHL but I'll leave that part to the new management after the team is sold (which IMO needs to happen for EK to come back, with Alfredsson part of the ownership group)

i think trading for karlsson is the dumbest thing to do. he's not needed. he making way too much money and trading for him is not worth it.

While I agree he isn't needed in back in Ottawa, the fact that he is top 5 in scoring makes him worth his contract right now. If a team were to get him for under 10 million, that's a steal IMO.

If the Sharks are trading Timo Meier, then i seriously doubt they'd have any interest in Alex DeBrincat. Since both probably come in around 8 x $9,000,000.

Agreed

Dont think he goes to a team willing to spend an additional 11.5m
I think he goes to a team with 1-2 contracts with Term they're willing to move and SJS is willing to take.

Because i know MTL i'll use them as to not ire another fanbase.
If SJS was willing to take lets say Gallagher and Anderson in exchange for MTL to RS of 50 % on Meier allowing SJS to double RS.
That would bring their return on Meier way up at 1.5m cap hit for a player with 30 goals and 51 points in 54 games merely for taking both contracts in the Karlsson deal.

IF MTL could make something like that happen they're better and SJS loads up on high end pick and prospects while adding a Power Forward and a Spark Plug who's a bit of a cap dump right now 1-2 injuries from retirement the way he's playing since playing in the SCF injured .More important a couple 5-6m dollar deals are way easier to move then one 11.5m dollar deal

There has to be a few teams in this position like VGK with Karlsson and Martinez
They could easily Swap Karlsson's on a deal like that from a cap POV

I'm sure VAN would probably give up the best deal with Boeser and Myers who can both still be flipped in the next couple years.Similar to the Pacioretty deal there might have been other higher profiting deals on the table but this would offer the Tatar like deal where ontop of youth like Suzuki that's both players acquired would overachieve .

There's probably a few more but those are about where i think Karlsson would accept a trade to
Outside that he's not offered a team with a good defensive core he can either lead as a veteran or join as veteran support like he did in SJS behind Burns .
EDM i dont think fits because of the term and while they might try to make it work they got all their major stars they drafted outside RNH and Nurse to re-sign in Karlsson's term.
Only way i see it working is if Nurse goes in the deal which wouldnt make sense to me.

TML would never be able to make it work without SJS RS of atleast 3m making them just like everyother NHL team wishing they could but realizing they cant afford it.

ok where to start?

In that scenario 18% of his salary is retained (which is what was reported a little while ago) so EK would make $9,430,000 AAV x 4 years

PLUS, Sharks are taking back Joseph who makes $2,950,000 AAV x 3 years. While he is not a cap dump, Sens could find a cheaper player to replace him (like re-signing Motte)

AND, they also take Zaitsev and his 4.5 AAV x 1 year contract, which the Sens will need to part with anyway

he's not needed

He's not needed?

Sens are 31st in GF at ES... Karlsson leads the entire league for scoring at ES (yes, more than McDavid, and as a D-man)

Pairing him with Sanderson allows him to not even worry about his defensive game. That pairing would also give Chabot-Zub much easier minutes in which they would thrive.

But yeah Karlsson is not needed.

Read... the OP?

Also doubt DeBrincat gets 9.0 AAV on a 7-8 years deal (would have to go 5 or 6 years to get that much IMO). Even his agent knows he's not worth that much at this point.
