Description
David Pagnotta mentioned Bruins are one of the teams that have called about adding Jonathan Toews. I think they need to add two pieces to their fourth line for playoff time: Foligno-Toews-Blackwell would be a good fourth line if you can get both guys from Chicago.

I would prefer ROR and Acciari from STL.

Is this a realistic package or what would it take?

i highly doubt that is enough. Seems like a lot of trash and then some late picks

Well... you have seven pieces on offer and six of them will get you nowhere. You have a late 23 1st, a 2nd pushed off almost three years, a 3rd pushed back more than a year and a half, a nothing prospect, a no longer a prospect who maybe one day can be an okay bottom 6'er, an outright cap dump and an okay 4th liner UFA. And you want the Blues captain, another good center and 2M+ in retention. If you had ROR and Acciari and were offered this, what would you say?

Disagree - Nosek and Smith are expiring contracts tossed in to make it work. Merkulov projects to be a top-6 forward (https://dobberprospects.com/player/georgi-merkulov/), Steen is a bottom-6 piece, and both are cheap and have term (Merkulov is under contract the next three seasons and Steen for the next two - both will be RFAs).

$4M in retention doesn't mean much when STL is not competing for this season and will not be carrying any retention after this season. STL is also not taking on any bad contracts in the trade.

Both Acciari and ROR are UFAs and unlikely to return to St Louis, value is driven down by the fact that they don't have term remaining on their contracts.

Acciari - 3rd Round Pick (2024)
ROR - 1st Round Pick (2023) , 2nd Round Pick (2025), Merkulov, and Steen

Heh. Setting aside your highly optimistic analysis of the package players, there's other things here. I have no idea why you think Acciari leaving is a foregone conclusion. At this point, I would not bet it. It's also easy to say all the things you say about money/cap things when you're not the team giving out 4M in retention AND adding 4M in meh depth player. Does that even fit under the cap for the Blues right away, not to mention after they actually have to spend to replace those key players? This is very much like the Blues giving you two strong Cs with playoff cred AND paying their salary/cap hit for you in exchange for one late 1st and a bunch of trash. That's basically the offer right there. And that's before we get into you expecting full on speculative rosy value for your offered pieces (the tiny 22 yo guy anyone could have signed a few months ago will be a top 6 NHLer!) while docking value factors on the Blues pieces but not the Bruins' pieces (delaying the 2nd, taking on dumps so YOU can make it work for YOUR team, etc.). And allllll that is before we remember that there are other teams in the NHL who might want them. And saing "might" is being hella-conservative.

You asked if it was a realistic offer and I'm just telling you it's not. Do with that what you will.

No point giving up a first to upgrade the 4th line. O’Reilly is decline fast by every metric.
