Description
Flames aren't going to outscore their problems this season. They are near the bottom of the league in terms of high danger chances and shooting percentage. I think at the deadline they need to prioritise preventing goals as opposed to scoring more, shooting% will work itself out and I think that this team is more like the team that the Flames thought they would have last season that needs to win games 3-2.

If Coronato isn't the guy that can step out of college and into the line up then Dube can play on the right side with Backlund and Coleman and the Flames could always make a deal for a Glendennig/Bonino type player to play 4th line C.

  1. Braun, Justin
  2. van Riemsdyk, James (3 500 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
- JVR was producing at a good clip before the injury, he can add some much needed depth scoring, more importantly he was only on the ice for 4 of Philly's 22 goals against in the first 9 games, adding him to Kadri's line would sure up some of the turnovers and neutral/Dzone problems that line has been having. If Philly retains Calgary still has some flexibility to make other moves.

- Braun is a solid bottom pair guy that can draw in and out of the line up as fits, if Kylington is back I don't think the Flames need to make this add as Stone would be the 7th D but if Kylington is out for the year then I think finding a depth piece to bump Stone down should be a priority.

  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (CGY)
  3. Choix de 6e ronde en 2024 (CGY)
Détails additionnels:
- Could see Calgary needing to add a late round pick/prospect as Philly is moving two trade chips in 1 deal.

CGY
Edit: Braun is important too becuase he can kill penalties, tough to take away Tanev's 5 on 5 minutes but if you can get a guy that will kill penalties on the back end while taking away form Tanev's heavy lifting I think it keeps him fresh and healthy.

Super excited for such an underwhelming TDL addition of JVR that I know we will probably end up with

My thoughts exactly.. Haha feels like there are a ton of really fun big names out there and the Flames will dial in that opportunity with James van Riemsdyk, Tanner Pearson, Alex Kerfoot, Lars Eller, Nick Bonino, Craig Smith. Buckle up Calgary, the whelming of the century is on it's way. I don't hate JVR in a vacuum, I think that if he can be pre injury JVR at 3.5M for half a season there is nothing wrong with that. Rest of his life JVR.. meh.

Oh don't get me wrong I think JVR is a fine player for a team that just wants to bolster an already solid top 9 but I don't think Calgary needs a "bolster" they need a big difference maker and the only prospects that should be off the table are Coronato and Wolf

So who is the big difference maker that you are targeting, knowing that the Flames don't often look at rentals. In my mind Timo Meier is that guy but next to impossible to keep around beyond this season, bang for your buck in a trade is obviously going to be Boeser is the Canucks aren't looking for a significant return, but also a pretty serious boom/bust candidate that's fairly overpaid as it stands, not saying he can't be worth that deal but not at this time.

    Horvat
    Boeser
    Mantha
    Kane
    Meier
    Tarasenko
    Larkin

In your mind who is realistic?

As much as I want to believe BT could pull off a trade for a dynamic top line scorer, I fully expect this to be the case: underwhelming additions for an overvalued price.
