    Not a chance that Boston is going to agree to retain 3x$3M for an in-division trade. The overpay would have to be monumental to get them to agree to that.

    You see teams paying a 1st + prospect for a top tier forward for 1 year. Leafs are getting one for 3 years and also paying for 3x3M retention, which is easily worth another 1st on top

    If theyre going for a full rebuild I dont see why they wouldnt be willing to retain, they wouldnt be a cap team anymore and when youre tanking who cares if the trade is in-division or not?
