#1 + Muzzin = .5 Schmaltz

Maybe Leafs have to send a Marlie along for the ride as a sweetener - no impact on the main roster for the trade though.

Maybe Leafs acquire Weber from MTL for a couple Marlies and send him to ARZ to make the deal happen.

I mean, that's certainly an interesting evaluation of Chychrun and Schmaltz. I feel like the reported ask on Chychrun is around the value of 3 x 1st round-type assets. Schmaltz, who is signed long term and is cheaper than Nylander, is likely worth a solid amount as well, especially after playing at a near-point per game clip this year on the absolute worst offensive team in the NHL.

But let's skip going back and forth about that, and just sit with the easiest question to answer here: "Why does Jake Muzzin waive his full NTC in this scenario?"
