Description

I know there is a little more work to be done to make Tampa cap compliant. Maybe Callaghan can be on LTIR for awhile.
The trade, Tampa gets a solid Tanev for three years.
Garrison goes home to Vancouver for his final season.
"Dumping" Killorn makes the cap better for Tampa and he is solid enough player for Vancouver for the next five year. The second rounder is the sweetener for Vancouver is take the extra money

I just find it astonishing that Kuch can get $4.8M a year and 1 year later Stevie Y is going to give Drouin, TJ, and Palat more than Kuch. Kuch is on another level compared to all these players. He's already pissed about their effort. Now, give them more money?!?! Drouin already hates Yzerman. I just don't know what's going on over there. Very hard team to gauge going forward.

It's all about the age & timing on RFA status. Assuming he continues along his current trajectory Kuch will get his big payday contract next summer (starting 19/20 season). And it will be much larger than anything given to Drouin/Palat/Johnson this summer. Besides, I do not believe Palat & Johnson are going to get $5.6/$5.7m. Imo if they are both in Tampa next year it'll be for <$5m. Looks like Drouin may get traded this summer.

What about the expansion draft? Honestly I don't see Vancouver doing that deal. If they are going to rebuild they'll want prospects & young RFA players. With all the teams wanting top 4 dman it's likely they can get a better deal.
