It cost a 2nd to dump 2 years of Compher. So I would say add a 1st all together then upgrade Sampo to a more legitimate prospect
Compher doesn't have negative value, come on now. He's producing at a ~20 goals and ~35 point pace (8 goals and 16points in 33 games) and is winning over 50% of his face-offs this year. Many teams would love to add a versatile third line RHS forward with that production. According to The Athletic's model he is outperforming his contract this year (market value $4.1m) and has a GSVA of +1.4. That's very solid for a 3rd liner.
It just so happens that AVS are a very deep team and if capspace needs to be found to add someone like Giroux then he's an obvious candidate given that NAK and O'Connor have emerged and done so well at super low caphits.
Yes, Compher's salary is $4.5m this year ($3.5m caphit) but by the deadline only 20% ($900k) of that salary will be left, and his salary drops back to $3.5m next year, so he'd easily be moveable for a pick if needed. I say this as a critic btw, just ask the other AVS posters on here.
PS. Despite this yes AVS need to add to the offer above. Upgrade the 2nd to a 1st and it's probably close, though I suspect Philadelphia will push hard for Barron.
