Description

Matching 8x$9M contract for Johnny and Chucky keeps them both here for a long time at more than fair market value. $72M in the bank guaranteed aint bad.

Have to trade Sean. There's nothing else to be done about it, it costs us a 1st round pick for sure, but we get to add a depth centre and another forward in free agency in Rakell or an upgraded Gudbranson on D.

The young guys have to be put in positions to play with this cap crunch. Pelletier, Ruzicka, and Jusso have to play.

You see the problem with trading Monahan is it forces Backlund to play permanent 2C and that is not good. If costs get too high this summer then Lucic should be moved. If Monahan is moved I would be interested in calling up Carolina about KK though

Paying a 1st to move Monahan is really poor asset management though, that 1st is better spent on deadline acquisitions

Monahan isnt so bad that youd need to move him with a first and take a loss.

Kylington will likely get a 1 year deal or a medium term deal. A 2 year deal walks him right to UFA status.

Definitely agree that the young guys should be given a good chance next year!
