Before his surgery toffoli was playing injured and barely scored. hes above a ppg since coming back. with his contract, age, and production, he'll easily fetch a 1st plus a top prospect. he already as 21 in 29
edmundson hasn't played due to injury and he took time off because of the passing of his father. he should be back in the next week or so. his contract is really good for the production and playoff experience he has. his term definitely warrants a 1st rd pick in return
gms love big strong veteran d-men. all the insiders are sayig teams are calling on him. after klingberg and chychrun, hes the best d-man out there, and with his playoff performance last year, he'll easily fetch a 1st.
Are you going by any sort of comparables, or are you going by personal gut feeling?
Because:
-JT Miller, who had similar production/contract to Toffoli (But is, and was a much better player) was traded to the Vancouver Canucks for a 1st+3rd.
-The last pending UFA left handed Dman to be traded for a 1st round pick was Keith Yandle, in 2015. Many similar players to Chiarot have been traded over those years, and none have brought back a 1st. Maybe this is the year, because he can play on either side. That being said, Hampus Lindholm >>>> Chiarot. I'd also imagine GM's will continue to overvalue big, slow RHD's over LD's every day of the week.
-A team paying a 1st and *praying* that Edmundson bounces back after a serious back injury is a pretty big stretch. Plenty of other options available, at a fraction of your perceived cost.
