I really like this team's depth. I think the value on the trade is okay but leaves Philly wanting a bit more.
My biggest qualm with this lineup is I don't think (& hope) that Veleno isn't a 4th line player.
As it stands on this ACGM the cap hit is nice but I wonder about the next two years when the best players Larkin, Bertuzzi, Suter, Seider, Veleno, Zadina & Raymond contract's are up for negotiation + a lot more pay with cap hit.
Yep, I agree with you. Forsberg and Lindholm are luxury signings all things considered. Both or either of those do not need to be signed, so long as Leddy would take a shorter term deal (in the case of Lindholm).
As this lineup stands, there's ~$1.75M coming off the books next year just in dead cap space, which would leave $10M (barring any changes to the cap ceiling) for Larkin, Bertuzzi, and Ned's raises. If Larkin goes to 7.25, Bertuzzi to 6.5, and Ned to 6.0 then that leaves $5.9M left (plus their previous cap hits, so ~$13.75M) to re-sign Veleno, Lindstrom, Erne, Kuemper, Stephens, and/or replacements for those guys.
I also agree on Veleno. I hope he isn't going to cap out as a 4th line player, but only time will tell.
