I think MTL uses its cap space to acquire assets. It remains to be seen if EDM feels that Allen is an upgrade over Koskinen, but he’s definitely a better cap hit, especially if MTL wants to retain salary.

If MTL wants to acquire draft picks, acquiring salary and retaining salary will be their largest assets.

that’s a terrible trade for the habs. chiarot could fetch a first or a second depending on how you look at him + koskinen might not be able to keep up his streak turning him into a dump

There is a 1st in the deal, but EDM needs cap relief to fit everything, hence why I proposed retaining salary. Russell & Koskinen walk at the end of the season anyway so they are throw ins.

Maybe the Habs could fetch a little more, but I think you get the idea of what I’m trying to do.
