I'm all for getting Brodin and he might be gotten for prospects but the reality is Rychel and Pokka are iffy NHLers at best. Minni can get better offers elsewhere. A first rounder for one year of Bozak, seems steep in my eyes.
Streaky at best JVR. I wonder what his trade value really is? IMO not as high as Leafs fan think, but hey I hope it's sky high.
I can't understand all this love for Leivo and Leipsic. They don't see the ice as Leafs, and wonder why they should be protected.
So when I look for trading for Brodin it seems what they want is a exact replica of Brodin but draft exempt, but anyways, I think Pokka still has pretty good potential and I think Rychel could be a good cheap 4th liner (this next year) that can be physical and score some goals and potentially become a top nine option
Yes it seems steep but he's also a good scoring centerman and there's a very weak market in FA for centerman. Look at Martin Hanzal, guy's best point total is like 41pts per year, and I know he's big and defensive but he fetched a first and maybe 2 seconds. Its hard to gauge and ultimately it comes down to what other teams value him at (obviously NJ and EDM valued Taylor Hall at Adam Larsson) so its not insane, but I don't think the first rounder is exactly ideal from both perspectives.
I think JVR in certain packages make sense, even with being slightly streaky, the value of his contract fully retained is insane.
I'm shocked more people on here aren't fans of Leivo and Leipsic, but I'll give my perspective:
Leivo to me seems to be a Lupul "lite" without the injuries. He puts up decent points. I could totally see him being a 20 goal scorer with 20 helpers, which on a good contract would be really good.
Leipsic meanwhile is too good for the AHL, but he's not just an older guy that's skill he's got some serious feistiness to his game, totally see him becoming a Brendan Gallagher type. He's also pretty good on the PP as well.
And by all these moves it allows us to really give Vegas some awful choices to pick: Martin, Kruger, Fehr, Marincin, Marchenko and Fayne
