Description
So Many Options this Offseason, Leafs will need to Look for the Best Bargain.

Trade 1: Chicago loads up for another Cup Run, for 2m they get JVR who gives them scoring depth. They lose an expensive 4th liner, a blueliner who was going to be selected in expansion draft, and the 30th pick at next years draft.

Trade 2: McDavid's idol (no seriously his draft comparable he wanted to be like was Tyler Bozak) and western Canadian native would be a great fit. Contractually Leafs take back nearly identifcal cap of Fayne for same term. EDM desperate for centers clearly after acquiring Desharnais. I don't know if I want a 1st rd pick coming back but he's definitely worth more than a second rounder.

Trade 3: Minnesota is going to lose Brodin in the expansion draft. Leafs send back a good defenseman prospect back on an expiring contract, a depth NHLer (at this point) still on his ElC and a draft pick. Minnesota gains cap flexibility and youth that can challenge for a roster spot.

Trade 4: This one was a surprise to me too. Do you think Schultz would be a good fit in TOR? I know he's doing well but is that the Crosby/Malkin effect? What would Pit want in return? I feel like I'm not giving up alot here.

I'm all for getting Brodin and he might be gotten for prospects but the reality is Rychel and Pokka are iffy NHLers at best. Minni can get better offers elsewhere. A first rounder for one year of Bozak, seems steep in my eyes.
Streaky at best JVR. I wonder what his trade value really is? IMO not as high as Leafs fan think, but hey I hope it's sky high.
I can't understand all this love for Leivo and Leipsic. They don't see the ice as Leafs, and wonder why they should be protected.

So when I look for trading for Brodin it seems what they want is a exact replica of Brodin but draft exempt, but anyways, I think Pokka still has pretty good potential and I think Rychel could be a good cheap 4th liner (this next year) that can be physical and score some goals and potentially become a top nine option

Yes it seems steep but he's also a good scoring centerman and there's a very weak market in FA for centerman. Look at Martin Hanzal, guy's best point total is like 41pts per year, and I know he's big and defensive but he fetched a first and maybe 2 seconds. Its hard to gauge and ultimately it comes down to what other teams value him at (obviously NJ and EDM valued Taylor Hall at Adam Larsson) so its not insane, but I don't think the first rounder is exactly ideal from both perspectives.

I think JVR in certain packages make sense, even with being slightly streaky, the value of his contract fully retained is insane.

I'm shocked more people on here aren't fans of Leivo and Leipsic, but I'll give my perspective:

Leivo to me seems to be a Lupul "lite" without the injuries. He puts up decent points. I could totally see him being a 20 goal scorer with 20 helpers, which on a good contract would be really good.

Leipsic meanwhile is too good for the AHL, but he's not just an older guy that's skill he's got some serious feistiness to his game, totally see him becoming a Brendan Gallagher type. He's also pretty good on the PP as well.

And by all these moves it allows us to really give Vegas some awful choices to pick: Martin, Kruger, Fehr, Marincin, Marchenko and Fayne

Wild GM Carl Fletcher wants a young under 25 years old top line Center for Jonas Brodin a deal around Kirby Rychel isn't going to cut it. Have too think Ryan Nugent-Hopkins or Matt Duchene something like that.

Ya I don't think anyone would offer a under 25 top line center for Brodin. He is a great player but those players are rarely traded, especially to a team who are not in a good bargaining spot with the expansion draft coming up.
I do think Duchene would fit but It would cost alot more than Brodin I'd think as Sakic wants a kings ransom

Not to mention, Wild already have Eriksson Ek who looks like he could be a really solid option down the middle, its hard to gauge what the Wild want, but in this trade it's mostly about them retaining value from the expansion draft
