I'd agree if we were talking about Duchene, but Johansen ain't that bad. Bit overpaid yes, but still a top6 C. He did pretty well at the end of the year and playoffs.

He's still overpaid quite a bit. And for 4 more years. To a rebuilding team he's nothing but a pure cap dump. He'd be an average 2C on a playoff team if he was making 2-3 mil less

We also gotta note that BUF is not going to make a sell where they won't take cap in simply because they need to meet the cap minimum, and from the options available I'd say Ryjo is the best center available with not any kind of clause on his contract. Well, aside from Zibanejad, but I'm not including rentals here.

He's overpaid by a couple of millions, I agree, but for Sabres, money is the smallest issue right now. They should focus on getting the best value out of Eichel, and if that sort of trade included one tad overpaid player, they've got nothing to lose long-term.

I guess that's fair but I still think buffalo would have little interest in fabbro and ingram when they desperately need forward prospects and already have two 1OA pick defensemen and UPL as their goalie of the future.
