But the Dickinson signing leaves Vancouver with about 14-17 million to sign their actual good players: Pettersson and Hughes.

I gave Pettersson a 2 year bridge. More than what Barzal makes for one less year.
Hughes gets 8.25 million over 6 years, which I believe is reasonable for him. He's not as good as the other two major guys coming off of ELCs (Makar and Heiskanen) and isn't able to sign an offer sheet, but will command something pricey.

A 23 player roster gives the Canucks about a million to spare, so either of those can be adjusted. Again, I don't watch the team so I'm not familiar with the bottom six, but any arrangement of their roster will likely put them around the 900k in cap space mark.

Also the Tucker Poolman signing is bizzare and completely unnecessary. Could've handed Pettersson a 10 million * 8 years without it.

I can't see Pettersson making less than Barzal on a bridge.

Likewise, I don't think Hughes will sign an 8-year contract unless it's close to 9 million.

If it's a two year deal he should absolutely get less than Barzal. 8.5mil is also pretty good for Hughes that's more than Miro plus he's a 10.2c so he doesn't have the same kinda leverage

What I see a lot of people are doing is placing the scratched players on taxi squad. I don’t think there will be a taxi squad for 21-22 season. If there is then that helps you. Otherwise you’re kinda stuck. Because this one mean you would have 0 scratches. And would be very difficult to call someone up if injury occurs
