Description
Eriksson has a 15 team no-trade list but I can't imagine why he'd want to stay in Vancouver and never play again. At least in Ottawa he might get some games.
Rousell only has a 5 team no-trade list and he might hope his experience gets him more games in Ottawa. Which I guess it could but ideally they'd both end up in Belleville for us and not be first call-ups. I believe this is a very good deal for Vancouver but I COULD BE convinced to add a 6th or 7th the BOS 3rd that's going back to VAN in this deal.
This D is very solid but, unless we get above average goaltending we probably miss the playoffs again. And I'm SO COOL with that... A top 12 pick in 2022 (plus VAN's 1st rd pick) makes this team a future BEAST in the NHL. And for 21-22 our cap drops by almost $20M with just Norris, Brännström, Formenton and (maybe) Paul to sign.
The lines are intentional. I want White to get a shot in Connor Brown's spot in order to give Logan Brown a TRUE legit shot as a 3rd line pivot with 2 of our most reliable wingers. If he struggles then White returns to pivot and Logan Brown finishes his last season for Ottawa in Belleville while we shop him. Adding a UFA pivot IS an option but unless we're talking about a one-year deal with Krejci or Stastny (unlikely) I'm not really interested.
I know there are deals to be made with TBL this offseason but no one ever seems to win deals with them, so I'm hesitant to even try. I don't want to give up ANYTHING to acquire high end UFAs who won't be here when we're ready to actually compete. Let's not rush this.
With the 2021 9th OA pick OTT will have their top choice of Lucius, Lysell, McTavish or Sillinger. Kent Johnson is likely already gone.

Détails additionnels:
Vancouver takes two cap dumps on Ottawa, dropping $9M in cap - and gets a player they need in Tierney who can pivot their 3rd line and PK for them at $3.5, who they can move at the deadline for a pick if they wish.
VAN
  1. Tierney, Chris
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2021 (OTT)
  3. Choix de 3e ronde en 2022 (BOS)
Détails additionnels:
In the trade Ottawa adds $5.5M in cap but only 700K (or $1.7 if OTT has to pay the bonus) in actual salary. They move from 10th OA pick to 9th in 2021 and gets VAN's 2022 1st in exchange for BOS 3rd.

OTT
SEA
  1. Daccord, Joey
  2. Dadonov, Evgeni
Détails additionnels:
I would offer Forsberg as incentive to take Dadonov but Seattle might ask for Daccord or Gustavsson. If so bye-bye Dado and Dacco. But there are truly so many options here, maybe a sweetener with Roussel, but I was looking to bring down Ottawa cap and $$ - because that's what Melnyk would be asking the team to do.

Value is fair and could see Nucks making the deal if two of the players they like are still available at 9 and Benning really wants to go for it this year.

Not sure the team should be using a first next year to clear cap that will expire next year. Sure they could load up in free agency but few teams have been able to build through FA and Benning has been particularly bad with UFAs.

NOT DISAGREEING AT, BUT, FROM ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE... VAN would be clearing $9M in cap they DON'T want AND getting a 3rd line pivot they DO WANT. They should be a playoff team next season, it was only the injuries to Pettersson and Ferland that caught up with them. Thinking of it that way, they're exchanging a mid-to-late 1st for a 3rd, and that $9M in accessible cap is at a time where they can take advantage of it with the expansion draft.

Those exact reasons are why I'd want more if I was Ottawa. Pick swap aside, youre looking at taking on a 9m cap dump coming with a first but its still costing you two 3rds? (Tierney is likely worth a 3rd)

Even if there was nothing coming back from Ottawa I'd be apprehensive about taking that much on for a future 1st. Vancouver could very well bounce back next year and that pick could be mid to late.

Would much rather replicate the tampa cap dump from last year and take on around 3m salary for a 2nd. Roussel or Komarov would be ideal.

Yeah I disagree they are a healthy Pettersson and Ferland away from being a playoff team. 9M in cap space is enticing but Tierney alone is 3.5 of that, while he's a decent player he's overpaid and a UFA after a year. 5.5M in space doesn't move the needle enough IMO. 9M in space the following year plus the picks sets the team up better.

Again value is likely fair but I don't think it does enough to improve the Canucks as a short term move to justify the move.
