Yzerman makes a couple of pre-expansion draft moves, gaining an extra 1st round pick from Vancouver, and then takes advantage of his former team to upgrade the defense.

With 4 of the first 5 picks being defenseman, the Wings take RW DYlan Guenther at 6, Goalie Jesper Wallstadt with Vancouver's pick at 9, and a right-handed Center in Francesco Pinelli with the pick from Washington.

No chance Vancouver gives that pick up, they'd just buy Virtanen out. They probably won't even need to, because if he's convicted, they'll have grounds to terminate his contract.
