Who does Seattle take

Dermott is very unlikely to be taken unless they make a handshake deal before the expansion.

If leafs go standard format for protection, Holl is exposed and Holl > Dermott right now so I'd bet Seattle takes Holl.
If leafs go 4 & 4, it leaves Kerfoot exposed, and based on his playoff performance Seattle definitely takes him.

i had Holl protected because he carries a 10 team no trade contract and i not sure Kerfoot @ 3,5 for 2 more years will fit Seattle's needs therefore Dermott seems like the pick

Mikheyev and Sandin (and Liljegren) are exempt from the expansion draft.

I think that Toronto goes 8 and 1, leaving Kerfoot, Engvall, Joey Anderson, Adam Brooks and Denis Malgin as the significant forwards exposed and Dermott as the qualifying defenseman.

I echo @Napparific in saying that unless the Maple Leafs trade him beforehand, Seattle is almost certain to take Kerfoot -- if for no other reason than that he'll get some draft-pick trade interest.

oh damn i didnt know Holl has a NTC... does that affect expansion?? But I'd still think Kerfoot > Dermott from seattle's point of view. Keep in mind they do have to hit the cap floor, cant just draft all cheap contracts, and kerfoot has shown more than Dermott. Personally I hope Dubas sees this and gets an asset back for kerfoot before the expansion
