Well Yzerman said he is looking for picks and prospects at the TDL. Armia isn't a center he is a bottom 6 winger and if you look at Detroit's roster you will see they don't need more of those. Yes Glendening is a 3rd or 4th line center but he and Larkin are the only 2 centers Detroit has. Glendening plays a majority of his minutes in defensive situations and he doesn't mind that at all. With Armia being a UFA he really has very little if any value from Detroits's point of view. Being able to flip a player isn't really a selling point. In this situation Detroit would have to hope someone wants and is willing to pay a certain price for Armia just so they can break even in a trade they have already made. Since this is a TDL move how does Detroit flip Armia since he is a UFA at the end of the season?
A 3rd round pick will get you Glendening with 50% retention and right now his remaining cap hit is $840,000.
