Quoting: ItWasIn
There was talk that Gawdin was going to be in the lineup in the return to play, unfortunately, a high-ankle sprain derailed that. I think it's very, very likely he cracks the opening night lineup. He agreed to sign for less than his qualifying offer, which tells me there might be a little "wink-wink, nudge-nudge". He scratched the teams back, they scratch his.
Grabner kinda scares me to. He's 33, with a game based on speed. The last two seasons he's really fallen off too. In 19/20 he posted the lowest pt/g of his career. I''d rather look at Melker Karlsson, younger, versatile and again, a RHS
I get that about Grabner, I just think he’s probably gonna be the cheapest option, and he can still put the puck in the net a decent amount for a 4th liner. I wouldn’t mind M. Karlsson, or Nordstrom, or really anyone that we can get for league min or close to it that can handle themselves on the PK, I just think that’s a weak spot for us with Rieder and Janko gone and we should look at signing 1-2 more depth forwards. If we don’t sign anybody new (just keep our own guys) that means we have two roster spots dedicated to two of Robinson, Rinaldo, or Gawdin at all times. Ngl I would rather have one spot for those three to battle for, plus an extra depth guy (shame Quine left) and the other roster spot filled by a full-time NHL depth guy (Leivo works, any of the PK guys I mentioned work, and I’m sure there are a couple other interesting options among non-qualified RFAs, like Kahun). Idk about that theory, I think he signed league min because Tre is a hardass negotiator and he doesn’t have an NHL game played yet lol, if he makes the team that would be great, we could really use a guy who might be able to supply decent depth scoring and two-way play.
