Description
I checked out a few Winnipeg ACGMs and adding a LHD and a middle six RW seems to be a theme, so hopefully this fits their needs. Siegs is expected to get something like 2x1.25M on a bridge deal, so Winnipeg is adding about 1.75M in salary with this trade. I think Siegs and Roslovic are fairly equivalent in value - young players with some upside coming off their ELCs who've yet to fully break out. I hate to trade Panik when he was just starting to warm up late in the season, but with the Schultz signing it's hard to see a way to fill out a 22 man roster without someone like him leaving, so he's thrown in basically for free. I'd rather they moved Hagelin, but I have a feeling it'll be Panik. Getting Roslovic back eases the pain though, since I could see him eventually replacing Oshie in the top 6 and the Caps don't have any RW prospects at the moment who project as much more than 4th liners.

Only issue, you addressed it, is that Hagelin is a 4th line player. Panik is a more realistic 3W than Hags. Maybe we could add a pick to make this seem more enticing to take the lesser player

As a fellow caps fan I 100% agree with moving on with Panik. But instead of moving on with Siegenthaler, I would rather move on from Jensen. I know Siegs is gonna demand a smaller contract and would be easier to trade. But he's the better player. The problem is that I don't know of many teams that would take on the 5mil from Jensen and Panik. I'd personally trade a 3rd from 2022 with Jensen and Panik to a team like Detroit or Ottawa and see if they're willing to take both of them for like a 4th or a 5th.

I have a feeling the organization just values Hagelin more than Panik due to his PKing and his fit in the locker room. He's really not awful as a 3rd liner though. As much as it feels like he kills offense, he's got 36 points in 78 games as a Cap, which honestly was pretty surprising to me when I first saw it. That's high-end 3rd line production.

I personally have to disagree with you. What does Panik add to the team? He's not good enough to be apart of the PK or PP. Hagelin was a big reason why the PK was as good as it was last year. Id say move Sprong to the 3rd line RW. Then have a guy like Pinho or Gersich as the 4th line LW. Also Panik played 4th line wing last year. Does the front office want to pay a 4th liner 2.5mil? I can't really see them doing so.

Totally disagree on Siegs being better than Jensen. Especially if Lavi wants the team to play up-tempo, Jensen's advantage in skating will be huge. You've also got to factor in who's above and below them. Siegs is unlikely to have to play up in the lineup because Orlov and Dillon are both solid and don't have any injury issues, while Jensen's behind Schultz, who's a significant risk to play his way out of the top 4 either by continuing to play like he did last year with the Pens or by getting another major injury. Keeping Siegs blocks Fehervary, which could turn out to be especially damaging if the AHL season doesn't happen and they have to send him to Europe, while keeping Jensen blocks TVR, who's a finished product and only signed for a year anyway. I'd much rather keep Jensen as Schultz insurance and trade Siegs instead to free up a spot for Fehervary.
