Why would you want Zidlicky? They already have Rozsival, Gustafsson, Svedberg, and Pokka. You're going to carry Nick Schmaltz on the roster....but have him as a healthy scratch? Send him down, bank the space and play him in Rockford. Or put him in the top 6 here. Vesey's deal will be the max cap hit of 925k plus 2.825 in bonuses. Kempny has a possible 225k in bonuses. Panarin has roughly 2.5 million. Campbell has 750 for 10 games played. Theres 6.275 in cap space you wouldnt have next year if you exhaust every dollar this year.If you can convince Vermette, who was scratched by Quenneville at times to sign, thats 1 million you wont have next year that you could use to retain Panarin. Schmaltz at least starts in Rockford. Motte may not, especially if Vesey can't be signed.

Exactly! Why on earth do the Hawks need another 3rd pairing D? Gus, Rosy, Svedberg, Pokka, and possibly Frosling are all ready to play #6 D for the Hawks.
Schmaltz will likely never be a scratch for the Hawks this year unless its in the playoffs. They want to develop him as quickly as possible so he will either be in the AHL or be in every lineup for the Hawks.


Vesey won't reach Schedule B bonuses so at most he's 1.775 mil. Kempny will likely reach 225k so he's .925 mil. Panarin MAY hit his schedule B again but is unlikely. Campbell is a given so he costs 2.25 mil. The bonuses wouldn't be 6+ million. And that's not something the Hawks are going to worry too much about this season. That was made clear when they continued to play Panarin with Kane at the end of the season last year allowing him to easily make schedule B bonuses. Vermette was scratched like 4 games his entire time with the Hawks because he wasn't playing well. Let's not forget Versteeg, Stalberg, Brouwer, Terevainen, and countless other successful NHL players have been scratched by Q as well.
