I'd rather have Brown and Cernak than Puljujarvi and Larsson, but I don't think it matters because I don't think Tampa takes that deal.

They have to make a trade or they get offer sheeted.

Who is beating this offer?

Cernak and Brown are being used to get PoolParty and Lavoie, they fit the Lafreniere/Byfield window, wheras Brown does not.

oilers pass, take out lavoie and cernak and they may consider

Connor Brown should be a Sen for a long time. He's going to be an important part of the leadership core for Ottawa going forward. He's definitely on the older side of where you'd like your players going forward, but he's still definitely young enough to make sense. He could sign a six year deal, and he'd only be 32 at its end.

If anything I'd be trading Duclair before Connor Brown. He's a much less consistent player, and he's plays a position where Ottawa has a lot of depth compared to RW.

Also the only way Galchenyuk is getting a 3 year deal is if it's in Europe. I don't think Ottawa will be the team to bet on Galch this summer, and I doubt he gets more than 1 year 3mil.

Cernak is the most valuable piece from their side, taking him out doesn't help.

I think Toronto would give a LOT to acquire Cernak, but there simply isn't enough value here for Edmonton.
