1. BUF-NYI Trade:
Islanders add some experience at LHD behind Pelech and Leddy with veteran depth insurance for sophomore Toews.
Sabres accept 5th rounder for cap relief.

2. BUF-LA Trade:
Kings bolster their thin defense with top 4 RHD, adding a bottom 6 winger and prospect.
Sabres improve depth at RW with 2-way veteran who has playoff success and motivation in contract year playing near his hometown, along with center prospect and pair of 2nd rounders, one as conditional.

3. BUF-ANA Trade:
Ducks add much-needed depth at RHD with affordable 5th/6th defender.
Sabres add draft pick and some cap relief for player that probably would be lost on waivers.

4. Training Camp Moves:
- Sobotka is waived, clears and is demoted to Rochester; he refuses demotion and opts to return to KHL, nullifying his contract.
- After Pilut returns to lineup, Hunwick is waived, clears and reports to Rochester.

5. Opening night lines:
1st - Skinner & Eichel return with Toffoli serving as defensive conscience and net-front finisher that Reinhart served.

2nd: A playmaker with speed, defensive awareness and skill at zone entries, Johansson fills the 2C role for '19-'20. Olofsson benefits as the sniper from Johansson's and Reinhart's playmaking skills.

3rd: with Rodrigues' speed, defensive awareness and ability to take face-offs, he stabilizes line for Mittelstadt in less-pressured role. Vesey becomes the net-front finisher the Sabres hoped Okposo would be last year with Mittelstadt.

4th: Sheary slides down to RW with the reunited Larsson-Girgensons duo to provide a strong forechecking line.

1st D: Miller becomes defensive anchor for Dahlin and complements the pairing with the heavy shot from point that Dahlin hasn't developed yet.

2nd D: McCabe holds down the defensive duties to allow Montour freedom to roam offensively.

3rd D: A teaming of 2 strong possession players with similar skating abilities, offensive instincts and experience levels in a less-pressured role.

Extras: Okposo serves as 13th forward while Bogosian serves as 7th defenseman in spot duty.

Cap:
Botterill restores availability for in-season recalls and transactions.
