Description
This is a twist on an earlier armchair-GM team of mine ("Gaming Cap Space Just A Tad") that doesn't bother with the silly Clarkson LTIR thing or the Hartnell-for-Desharnais trade. Done mostly to verify that yes, given what the cap will actually be this season, we can get by with just one cap-clearing move (buying out Tyutin).

Relevant notes from that prior team:

Jones's contract is comparable to Morgan Rielly's, except $33m instead of $30m (an additional $500k/year).

Karlsson's contract is essentially a "prove it" deal that has us retaining RFA rights at the end (assuming he doesn't leave in an expansion draft) but does give him arbitration rights.

Puljujarvi's contract would likely include lots of bonuses, but CF doesn't offer any way to model those other than "just put it in the cap hit". So I just put in the base salary. Presumably we'd want at least $2m of cap space to be "safe", and that in the meantime we're just kind of living dangerous with the bonus cushion. If necessary, Clarkson can be bought out for more wiggle room, but that I think can wait until next offseason.

Just curious, how do you "bury" a contract (Boll)? I did not see this option in the transaction list. (This apparently is not a buyout. Waiving/sending to minors or incenting to "retire")?
The sad reality is CBJ (ownership) probably does not want to be this close to cap ceiling for very long. They have been very close to the cap for several years now and absolutely no return in the form of results. Mismanagement of term/contracts and overvaluing talent has been a staple of the current management regime. I would expect if they don't get the salary/contract situation corrected, Pres/GM regime might be shown the gate soon.
