7 F - Toews, Kane, Pavelski, Saad, Debrincat, Strome, Kampf (or Perlini)
3 D - Keith, Seabrook, Maata OR Murphy (other would be Seattle's selection or traded in 2020 for cap relief)
1 G - Crawford
Exempt - Boqvist, Joki, Byram, Kubalik (Plus Mitchell, Beaudin, and Krys)
With an expected cap of near 85M in 2020, and Murphy or Maata off the books, it leaves just under 13 million for Debrincat and Strome extensions. If Haula and Caggiula were then replaced by ELC's, they can make this work for 2020 as well.
I see Beaudin and Mitchell on the 2020 roster, one would replace whoever is lost between Murphy and Maata, and the other is eased into the Top 6 D, sharing time with Seabrook. In that scenario, Krys is traded for a cheap Top 9 Forward that has some scoring upside with this lineup.
Joki isn't exempt, but he'll be protected and Seattle can choose from either Murphy or Maatta. The other thing I'd mention is what while I did read the description for the Vegas trade saying that Vegas would need to add more...how much more? I mean Cody Glass??? The Hawks should be looking for 1st rounders which isn't just yadda yadda yadda. Or maybe just making the playoffs hoping for a cup and letting him go for free.

That's right. Either way, it maintains the idea that Murphy or Maatta are off the books next summer.
I like the idea with Vegas. Ideally what they add would be a younger player on an ELC that fits into the Top 9 in 2020-2021. Whether that's a early round draft pick this year or a promising prospect currently in their system.
If Seabrook cares about his team even the slightest, he will waive his NMC for the Seattle draft. No team in their right mind will pick Seabrook's contract especially in two years, when he is 7D or sitting in pressbox, so its a safe thing for him to do and will benefit CHI greatly.
