I would love Malkin in MTL and if management wanted to absolutely go for it while Price and Weber are still good, then I'd be ok with it but realistically, that simply is not where we're going. Kotkaniemi would have to battle for 3rd, sometimes 2nd lines minutes with Danault. Poehling would be forced to play wing or 4th line center.
Habs needed Malkin like 2 years ago. Since then, they've major strides to improve their center depth and now just when its starting to look like it could be a power house with KK, Poehling, Suzuki and Danault, we trade for Malkin? Not to mention that the Habs will be looking to grab a potential future top pairing dman with their 15th pick this year (Broberg, Harley, Heinola etc) which they sorely need.
I like the idea but it simply is not the right time anymore. The Malkin window was the year 16-17 and Pittsburgh won the cup so it wouldn't of happened anyway.
